When Beethoven chose Chappell (in Bond Street) to publish one of his compositions in the nineteenth century, little did he know that, 200 years later, we would still be selling the best new Stentor and Yamaha violins to London ’s keenest violinists eager to play his music - albeit in Wardour Street!

Our range of string instruments has been carefully selected so that each and every one of them can create the nicest sounds – even from beginners! And to help them be the easiest to play for every beginner, our range includes a selection of specially chosen children’s violins (1/16, 1/10, 1/8, 1/4, 1/2 and 3/4 kids sizes):

• Adults and teenagers (13 years+), with very few exceptions, will need a full size violin
• Children under 13 really need to come into the store where we can try several sizes of violin with them to find the correct size - unfortunately, age isn't a useful guide
• Children can outgrow violins relatively quickly - from as little as 6 months or longer than 2 years
