Please join us for the third concert in our Spring 2011 series of Lunchtime Music at our Wardour Street store on Thursday February 3rd at 1pm where we feature the pianist Daniil Sayamov, currently studying at the Royal College of Music.
 
Presented in association with Yamaha pianos, these recitals provide a wonderful opportunity for highly gifted young artists to perform at a superb venue as well as offering an insight into the extraordinary wealth of talent being nurtured in our conservatoires. And there are few better opportunities to hear Yamaha’s stunning handcrafted Premium Pianos played at concert level in the UK.

The Artist:
 
Daniil Sayamov - (Piano): Daniil Sayamov was born on November 23, 1983 in Rostov-on-Don, Russia, into a family of musicians.
 
He studied at the Rostov-on-Don State Musical Lyceum for eight years with Professor S. I. Ossipenko, and when he was 15, Daniil entered the Rostov State Rachmaninoff Conservatory. From 2000 to 2010, he studied at the P. I. Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory with the world renowned professor Vera Gornostaeva. Daniil is about to finish his Doctorate specialising in the great piano works of Alfred Schnittke.
 
For his first five years of study at the P. I. Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory, Daniil was the recipient of the Sviatoslav Richter Scholarship, which was provided by the Mstislav Rostropovich Foundation.
 
At present, Daniil is a scholar at the Royal College of Music, London, on the Master in Performance course, under the tutelage of Professor Dmitry Alexeev.
 
Daniil has become a Laureate and prizewinner of many international piano competitions, such as:
-          “Shostakovich” – 2nd prize (Russia, 1996);
-          “Vladimir Horowitz” – Special prize (Ukraine, Kyiv, 1997);
-          “Rachmaninoff” – 1st prize, Special prizes (Russia, Tambov, 2000);
-          “Nikolai Rubinstein” – 1st prize (Russia, Moscow, 2001);
-          “Città di Cantù” – 2nd prize (Italy, 2003);  
-          “Valsesia Musica” – “F. Fuselli” Special prize (Italy, 2003);
-          “Hilton Head” – 3rd prize (USA, 2006);
-          “Tallinn” – 3rd prize (Estonia, 2006)
-           IV International Rachmaninoff Piano Competition – 3rd prize (Moscow, 2008).
 
 
Daniil has taken part in masterclasses including: “The Hamamatsu International Piano Academy” (Japan), “Bayerische Musikakademie Marktoberdorf” (Germany), and “Eusebiuskring” (Amsterdam, Netherlands). He has been fortunate to study with distinguished professors such as Hiroko Nakamura, Arie Vardi, Michel Beroff, Matti Raekallio, Vladimir Tropp and Willem Brons.
 
As a soloist, Daniil has a wide range of repertoire and enjoys performing Russian and European - classical and modern music. He has performed in Russia, USA, Canada, Israel, Switzerland, Italy, Germany, Austria, Estonia and Latvia. He has also performed with orchestras with distinguished conductors including Eri Klas, Valery Poliansky, Mary Woodmansee Green, Juri Alperten and Vladimir Verbitsky.

This performance is free of charge and will take place in the Recital Room of Yamaha Artist Services Europe (London), situated within the historic Piano Hall at Chappell of Bond Street’s West End store.
