A Yamaha Pianos Promotional Recital

Please join us for the first concert in our new series of Lunchtime Music at our Wardour Street store on Thursday, January 14th 2010 at 1pm where we feature Jun Ishimura, currently studying at the Royal College of Music in London.
 
Presented in association with Yamaha pianos, these recitals provide a wonderful opportunity for highly gifted young artists to perform at an excellent venue. The series also gives our customers an insight into the extraordinary wealth of talent being nurtured in our conservatoires and the unique characteristics of Yamaha Concert series pianos.

Chopin: Ballade No.4 in f minor, Opus 52

The Artist:
 
Jun Ishimura - was born in Japan in 1988, and is currently studying at the Royal College of Music, supported by a full scholarship from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music.
 
Jun started piano at the age of four, performing a Mozart piano concerto with an orchestra at the age of eight. At the age of ten she played some Beethoven pieces in a nationwide TV programme. 
 
Jun has performed in major concert halls in Japan on the occasion of "the International Music Day, Festival '98 in Tokyo" and "the Benefit Concert for UNICEF 2001". In addition Jun has performed in many European music festivals including the “Festival D'Auvers-Sur-Oise, Cergy-Pontoise” in France and the “Encuentro de Musica de Santander” in Spain. Jun’s career as a soloist has progressed with recitals in Japan, Russia and London and concerto performances with the Krakov Philharmonic and Yaroslavl Philharmonic orchestras. 
 
Jun has won a number of prizes in national and international competitions. These include the 1st Prize in Category F (below 19 years), the special jury prize at the National Finals of the 26th Piano Competition by PTNA (2002), the 2nd Prize in the D category (below 26 years) at the 5th International Karamanov Piano Competition in Ukraine (2005), the 1st Prize, the special prize and the Audience No. 1 Selection Prize at the 2nd International Piano Competition in commemoration of the Art Centre of Tokyo (2007). 
 
In 2008 Jun was awarded the 1st Prize at the Ricci Foundation Awards 2008 in London and the 3rd Prize, Special Prize and Medal for the Youngest Finalist at the 54th Maria Canals Barcelona International Musical Execution Competition in Spain.

This performance is free of charge and will take place in the Recital Room of Yamaha Artist Services Europe (London), situated within the historic Piano Hall at Chappell of Bond Street’s West End store.  The recital will commence at 1pm.
