Please join us for our the continuation of our seventh series of Lunchtime Music at our Wardour Street store on Thursday November 19th at 1pm where we feature Olga Paliy, currently studying at the Royal Northern College of Music.
 
Providing a wonderful opportunity for highly gifted young artists to perform at an excellent venue on superb instruments, Chappell of Bond Street and Yamaha offer our customers a unique insight into the extraordinary wealth of talent being nurtured in our conservatoires.

The Artist:
 
Olga Paliy - was born in the Ukraine in 1982, and began her piano studies at the age of five. In 2001, she graduated from the Music College in Chernigov, Ukraine, where she received an Honours Degree. That same year she entered the Tchaikovsky National Academy of Music in Kiev, Ukraine (the class of Prof. Valery Kozlov), and in 2004 was selected for a Presidential Scholarship. This award is given each year to one hundred outstandingly talented students, who are chosen from various higher education institutions and universities throughout Ukraine.
 
Whilst studying at the Kiev National Academy, Olga gave concerts in many parts of the Ukraine as recitalist and concerto soloist, performing concertos by Prokofiev, Brahms, Beethoven and the Ravel Concerto for the left hand in D minor. At the same time, Olga has participated in public master-classes in Kiev Summer Academy with pianists Vadim Rudenko (Russia), Norma Fisher (UK) and Bernd Goetzke (Germany).
 
Olga has been a participant and prize winner in many international piano competitions, including Newport International Piano Competition (2003), Minsk, Belorussia, (2000), The International Competition for Young Pianists, Prague, Czech Republic (1999). 
 
In 2006 Olga graduated from the Academy with an MA Hons Degree and was offered an Entrance Award to the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester. She has been doing Postgraduate studies in Piano Performance at the RNCM since September 2007 with Norma Fisher.
 
During her time at the RNCM she has been successful in a number of internal college competitions and has given recitals in and around Manchester. Recently she was selected to participate in the public master classes with Anton Voight, Charles Rosen, Stephen Hough, Angela Hewitt and Michel Dalberto. Recently, Olga appeared in the Wigmore Hall in London (UK), performing music written by James MacMillan in a Study day.
 
Olga made her debut in London in September 2008, giving a recital at St. Martin-in-the Field with a program which included works of Beethoven and Debussy. As a result of her performance, she was offered the opportunity of giving a solo recital in St. James Church, Piccadilly.
 
She is continuing her postgraduate studies at the RNCM, supported by an RNCM scholarship, Yamaha Music Award 2008/9 and the Scholarship from the Leverhulme Trust. In July 2009 Olga was a finalist of the Kenneth Loveland Gift. In January 2009 Olga was offered a place on two years Master’s Program at the RNCM.

This performance is free of charge and will take place in the Recital Room of Yamaha Artist Services Europe (London), situated within the historic Piano Hall at Chappell of Bond Street’s West End store.  The recital will commence at 1pm.
