Chappell of Bond Street is delighted to begin our very first series of evening concerts featuring some of the very best musicians from our London conservatoires, playing chamber music – “Chamber at Chappell”.
 
The next recital is on Tuesday March 3rd at 6.15pm where we feature Manuel López Jorge (Piano), Alisa Liubarskaya (Cello), Louisa Faraguna (Violin) and Brooke Day (Viola).

Schubert: Sonata for Cello & Piano in a minor “Arpeggione”
Faure: Piano Quartet No.1 in c minor Opus 15
 
The Artists:
 
Manuel López Jorge (Piano) is a pianist, composer and chamber musician from Santiago de Compostela (Spain). He studied with Pablo Ferreño, Boris Berezovsky, Claudio Martínez Mehner. In November 2002, Manuel met the famous Spanish composer Antón García-Abril who taught him composition until 2008. He then moved to London in 2009 to pursue an MMus Studies in Piano at Trinity College of Music, as a student of Deniz Arman Gelenbe. Manuel was recently awarded a runner-up prize in the Jacques Samuel competition, and also received the Alfred Kitchen scholarship at TCM and the Xunta de Galicia scholarship in his home country.

Alisa Liubarskaya (Cello) keeps herself very busy by combining her performance schedule with her studies. Passionate about chamber music, she has performed most recently at the St Alfege Church in Greenwich, St Johns Smith Square and Deptford Town Hall. Having been awarded full scholarship in 2006 to the Manchester Music Festival in Vermont, USA, she participated in master classes with leading musicians, including Nathaniel Rosen and Shoshana Rudiakov. Since 2007, Alisa has been a scholarship student at Trinity College of Music studying with Natalia Pavlutskaya.

Luisa Faraguna (Violin) was born in Trieste (Italy) in 1985. She obtained her undergraduate degree in Violin Performance with the highest qualifications and honours in jazz improvisation and didactic knowledge management. Luisa has played in orchestras since she was nine years old, many times as soloist and leader. From 2004 to 2008, she played in the Youth Orchestra of Andalusia. In September 2008, she earned a scholarship from the Andalusian Regional Government; she studies with Ofer Falk and Omar Puente at Trinity College of Music in both classical and jazz violin.

Brooke Day (Viola) was born in 1981 and brought up in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada. He started the violin at five years old. At the age of 18, he went to the University of British Columbia and studied with Andrew Dawes. It was at UBC that he discovered the viola and proceeded to study with David Harding. Brooke led the viola section of the National Youth Orchestra of Canada in 2002 and 2003, graduating in 2004. In 2005, Brooke was fortunate to meet Rivka Golani. Rivka invited him to join her in England for some post graduate viola study. A year later, Brooke got that chance and he graduated with his masters in 2008. Now Brooke continues to study with Rivka in London at Trinity College of Music.

Chappell & Yamaha Artists Services team are showcasing some of the UK's most talented and acclaimed musicians, many of whom have already participated in Chappell's popular lunchtime conservatoire concert series.
The “Chamber at Chappell” concerts are free of charge and commence at 6.15pm.
Tokyo born Kumi Liley is the manager of Yamaha Artist Services Europe in London and she comments “We want to become a vibrant player within London's world class music scene and we hope these Chamber concerts will introduce new audiences to live classical music in an intimate and up-close setting. The series will also provide exposure and publicity for some of the UK's very best emerging classical musicians."
The London based artist centre of Yamaha Artists Services Europe is part of a global network spanning Paris, New York, Tokyo, Beijing, Taipei, Shanghai and Seoul. These facilities function as vibrant international hubs providing musicians, teachers, promoters and students access to the best quality concert instruments matched by top-level technical service. Throughout 2009 the centre will host a wide range of events and activities in association with promoters, record labels and conservatoires including lunchtime concerts, evening events and master-classes. Seating for the Chamber at Chappell series is inevitably limited and early booking is strongly recommended.
