Please join us for our the continuation of our seventh series of Lunchtime Music at our Wardour Street store on Thursday November 5th at 1pm where we feature Johannes Mnich, currently studying at the Trinity College of Music.

 
Providing a wonderful opportunity for highly gifted young artists to perform at an excellent venue on superb instruments, Chappell of Bond Street and Yamaha offer our customers a unique insight into the extraordinary wealth of talent being nurtured in our conservatoires.

The Artist:
 
Johannes Mnich - was born in 1985. He received his first piano lessons at the age of six, moving to Almuth Cordes local music school when he was 9. In 2001 he began private lessons with Prof. Martin Doerrie at the University for Music and Drama subsequently studying for his degree in music with additional lessons on the harpsichord and accompaniment. He spent 2007 as an exchange student at Trinity College of Music in London, UK, where he studied with Philip Fowke, Deniz Gelenbe, Yonti Solomon and Michail Kazakevitch.
 
Johannes has participated successfully as a soloist, accompanist and duo partner at the German youth competition “jugend musiziert”. As a result of his prize winning achievements here he was invited to participate in chamber music courses in Weikersheim and Trossingen, where he received teaching from Inge-Susann Römhild, Burkhard Glaetzner and Hartmut Gerhold.
 
At the international Steinway piano-competition in Hamburg in 1999 he was awarded the second prize and at the international Grotrian Steinweg piano-competition in Braunschweig in 2003 he was awarded 3rd place. During his exchange year in England, he was a prize winner at the Jacques Samuels inter-collegiate piano competition.  In May 2008 he reached the final of Trinity College’s most important competition, performing Ravel's G-major piano concerto under the baton of Nicholas Cleobury at St. John's Smith Square. 
 
During the last few years, Johannes has taken part in many masterclasses in Germany and was awarded a special prize for his achievements by his hometown of Achim. He as further developed his career performing as both a recitalist and accompanist in a busy schedule of concerts throughout the UK and Germany. He is a scholar of the Yamaha Arts Foundation of Europe.

This performance is free of charge and will take place in the Recital Room of Yamaha Artist Services Europe (London), situated within the historic Piano Hall at Chappell of Bond Street’s West End store.  The recital will commence at 1pm.
