The Artist:
Peter Foggitt - Born in 1984, Peter Foggitt, pianist, composer and bass-baritone, gave his first public performance at the age of five. As a choral singer and bass soloist, he has performed internationally. His first professional concerto appearance was broadcast by BBC Radio 3, and his compositions have been commissioned, performed and recorded by noted ensembles, including several cathedral choirs.

His "stunning… fire-breathing virtuosity" (International Piano Magazine) as a pianist has won him praise from critics and audiences alike. Engagements this season have included Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue with The Canterbury Orchestra, and Tchaikovsky's First Piano Concerto with the Sheffield Symphony Orchestra. Future plans include a disc of Carson Cooman's chamber music for Naxos. He is Principal Harmoniumist of the Aurora Orchestra, and performs regularly as an organist.

As a singer, he has performed with groups including the Academy of Ancient Music, the BBC Symphony Orchestra, Lucerne Baroque, Purely Choral and several London-based choirs. Recent solo performances include two appearances with James Judd and the TCM Symphony Orchestra as baritone soloist in Brahms's Ein Deutsches Requiem, and the bass solos in the Verdi Requiem with Sir David Willcocks. Peter has recorded for EMI, Priory and Signum - "a sparkling display of virtuosic but balanced singing" (BBC Music Magazine).

Recent composition commissions have come from, and performances been given by the Choir of St Paul's Cathedral, Chichester Cathedral Choir, the Eden:Stell Guitar Duo, pianist James Sherlock and the organists Tom Winpenny (broadcast on BBC Radio 4) and Oliver Lallemant. His 'secular motet', Angel of the North, was recorded by Purely Choral, for whom he is Composer-in-Residence; Hope, for solo organ, has recently been released on a CD from Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral. Last year, first performances included Open the Temple Gates (Il Suono), Peace-Piece (Arnold House School), An Hymne of Heavenly Beautie (Purely Choral), Preserve us, O Lord, and Blow ye the trumpet in Zion (St Pancras Parish Church). Other projects include The Cambridge Facebook Song, which Peter wrote in early 2006. An estimated two million people have since heard it or watched the music video, and media attention has ranged from student newspaper articles to an invitation to appear on Richard and Judy.

Born in Scotland in 1984, Peter studied at Chetham's School of Music, and at King's College, Cambridge, where he was Senior Choral Scholar. He presently studies piano with Douglas Finch, and singing with Linda Hirst, at Trinity College of Music, where he is an Alfred Kitchen Scholar and a College Scholar. He gratefully acknowledges the support he receives from the Watt Memorial Trust and from the SAAS. Visit Peter online at www.peterfoggitt.com.
