Chappell of Bond Street is delighted to continue hosting the second full season of Lunchtime Conservatoire Concerts featuring some of the very best pianists from our London conservatoires.
The penultimate recital in the spring/summer mini-season is on Wednesday June 10th at 1pm where we feature Alexey Chernov. Alexey plays Schumann’s masterful contribution to the Etudes genre, along with two of Scriabin’s later works. Also included is one of the pianists own compositions.

Schumann: Symphonic Etudes, Opus 13
Alexey Chernov: Etude-Fantasy No.3
Scriabin: Three Etudes, Opus 65
Scriabin: Sonata No.9 “Black Mass”, Op.68
 
The Artist:
Alexey Chernov - Born in 1982, Alexey began studying music from the age of four. He studied at the Central Special Music School of the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatoire where he was taught by N Rogal-Levitskaya, K Shashkina and Natalia Troull. He graduated from the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatoire in 2005 and is currently a postgraduate student at the Royal College of Music in London, which is also affiliated with the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatoire. At present, Alexey studies with Vanessa Latarche.

Alexey's prizes include: Sixth Prize at the 'Fourteenth Vianna da Motta International Piano Competition' in Lisbon (2001), Fourth Prize at the 'Tenth Unisa International Piano Competition' in Pretoria, South Africa (2004), First Prize at the 'International Piano Competition Minsk / Belarus' '(2005), Third Prize at the 'International Piano Competition Valsessia Musica' in Italy (2006), Second Prize at the 'Parnassos International Piano Competition' in Mexico (2006), Second Prize at the 'Emil Gils International Piano Competition', Ukraine (2006) and at the 'Fourth International Scriabin Piano Competition' in Moscow (2008). He has recently won First Prize in the 'Muse International Piano Competition' in Greece (2008).

In February 1998, Alexey performed as a soloist with the Russian National Orchestra conducted by Mikhail Pletnev in the Great Hall of Moscow Conservatoire. In 2000, he took part in festivals celebrating the music of Scriabin, both in Paris and Berlin, and in 2002 he gave a concert with the Orchestra of the State of Mexico. Alexey performs regularly in Russia and throughout Europe as a soloist and also with orchestras.

This performance is free of charge and will take place in the Recital Room of Yamaha Artist Services Europe (London), situated within the historic Piano Hall at Chappell of Bond Street’s West End store.  The recital will commence at 1pm.
