Chappell of Bond Street are delighted to continue our very first series of evening concerts featuring some of the very best musicians from our London conservatoires, playing chamber music – “Chamber at Chappell”.

The next recital is on Tuesday March 31st at 6.15pm where we feature the De Pedro, Byrne & Neves Trio:Sérgio da Silva Neves (Clarinet), Tara Lee-Byrne (Cello) and Jovanni de Pedro (Piano).

The Artists:
Jovanni de Pedro (Piano):  Filipino-American pianist Jovanni-Rey V. de Pedro has been heard in churches and concert venues throughout the United States, Canada, England, the Czech Republic, Austria, Italy, Spain, Switzerland and the Philippines - recently performing Brahms's First Piano Concerto with the UST Symphony in Manila, Mozart’s Concerto K. 466 with the Vienna Residenz Orchester and Brahms's Second Piano Concerto with the Santa Monica Symphony. Born into a family of musicians, Jovanni began piano lessons at the age of three with his father, and later attended the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts where he studied piano and conducting. He served briefly as conductor of the Artistic Journeys Youth Orchestra, and his choirs have won several competitions in the United States. Jovanni was recently invited to give a choral workshop with the Cebu Chamber Singers, who went on to win the Asian Choral Games in Jakarta last fall.

As a pianist, Jovanni has received scholarships from many distinguished organizations such as the Young Musicians Foundation in Los Angeles and the American Women’s Association in Vienna, and has won all the major prizes at the Vienna Conservatory of Music such as the 2003 Boesendorfer Stipendium, the overall prize of the Fidelio Competition given by the City of Vienna’s Cultural Affairs Department, and the 2007 Rotary Club Graben Stipendium. Jovanni has been a prize-winner in numerous national and international competitions; First place - 2000 United States Open Music Competition, First Place - 2002 International Pacific Piano Competition in Canada, Second Place - 2003 Ibiza International Piano Competition in Spain and Second Place in the 2007 Beethoven Society of Europe’s Intercollegiate Piano Competition in England.

Jovanni continues to receive invaluable guidance from his mentor, Robert Ward of Los Angeles. He has also worked with eminent artists including Igor Kipnis, Robert Lehrbaumer, John Perry, Aries Caces, Pierre Laurent-Aimard, Rudolf Buchbinder, Ronan O'Hora, Martino Tirimo, Bryce Morrison, Boris Berman, Gerhard Geretschlaeger and Menahem Pressler. With a scholarship from the ASCAP/Leiber and Stoller Foundations, Jovanni studied six years in Vienna, completing his Artists Diploma in 2007 with high distinction. He was awarded the 2008 Isabelle Bond Gold Medal for Performance Excellence upon completion of his Masters from Trinity College of Music where he studied with Yonty Solomon, Deniz Arman Gelenbe and Mikhail Kazakevich. Jovanni is currently pursuing doctoral studies at City University London.

Tara Lee-Byrne (Cello): Irish cellist Tara-Lee Byrne studied in Holland, Italy and England. Whilst studying in London Tara was awarded a place on the Mentorship scheme with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Britten Pears Festival Orchestra and was a finalist in the London Symphony Orchestra String Experience auditions. Her solo performances include appearances with The Hibernian Orchestra; Dublin Orchestral Players; RIAM Chamber Orchestra;  ”I Suoni Bianchi”  Chamber Orchestra and Orchestra Classica di Scuola APM, Italy.

Tara-Lee was a Music Scholar at Trinity College of Music London where her studies were generously supported by The Arts Council of Ireland, Artlinks Ireland, and City of Dublin Vocational Educational Committee. 2008/2009 engagements include an extensive tour of Ireland and The Middle East with The Rhian Duo and concerto performances in Ireland and Dubai premiering Molinelli's ' Twin Legends Concerto'. Tara-Lee is in demand as a cello teacher and chamber music coach in Ireland and abroad. She recently completed 'The Cello Motorway', an interactive teaching book and DVD focusing on bowing technique for beginners of all ages. In 2006 Tara-Lee founded MAMI - Music Artists Management Ireland, a music agency promoting young artists in prestigious music venues throughout Ireland.

Sérgio da Silva Neves (Clarinet): Sérgio studied in Portugal at the Conservatório de Música Calouste Gulbenkian de Aveiro with Nelson Aguiar, in Escola Superior de Artes Aplicadas de Castelo Branco with Carlos Alves and in Trinity College of Music with Joan Enric Lluna. Sérgio has been honoured with different prices 1º st Prize in the Wilfred Hambleton clarinet competition 2008, (England), 1º st Prize FOLEFEST 2007, Chamber Music (Portugal), 1º st Prize in The Harold Clarke Woodwind Competition 2007, (England); 1º st Prize in I Concurso de clarinete Carreño 2006 (Astúrias / Spain); 1º st Prize Young Musicians, in the modality of Chamber Music, promoted by C.I.A. (Norway) 2006; Prize Prémio de Mérito Ensino Magazine (Portugal) 2006; 2º nd Prize Young Musicians RDP, (Portugal) 2006; 2º Prize in Concorsi Internazionali di Musica della Val Tidone, Chamber Music (ITÁLIA) 2006; Prize Fundação Engenheiro António Pascoal(Portugal) 2005; 2º nd Prize Young Musicians RDP, Chamber Music(Portugal) 2005.
He was selected to play in many youth and professional orchestras in Portugal, and to play in Youth Wind European Union Orchestra in 2005. He has already performed in Portugal, Brazil, Norway, Italy, Holland, Spain, France, Luxembourg and England. He participated for two years (2003 and 2004) in the conducting course of orchestra “Canford Summer School of Music” in Wimborne (England), under orientation of the conductors George Hurst, Rodolfo Saglimbeni, Denise Ham and Robert Houlihan.
He has been the principal Conductor in Santa Comba Dao Wind Band (Portugal) since 2004.
