Chappell of Bond Street is delighted to begin our very first series of evening concerts featuring some of the very best musicians from our London conservatoires, playing chamber music – “Chamber at Chappell”.

The next recital is on Tuesday March 17th at 6.15pm where we feature the Duisen Duo Ordabek Duisen (Violin) and Dina Duisen (Piano).

The Artists:

Dina Duisen (Piano) Born into a family of musicians in Almaty, Kazakhstan, with both parents’ music academics, Dina started her first piano lesson at the age of 5, quickly progressing to become a concert pianist with her debut with the Kazakh Symphonic Orchestra. Having graduated from the Kazakh National Academy of Music with distinction in 2005, Dina was awarded a full scholarship to the ‘Artist Diploma’ programme at the Texas Christian University in Fort Worth and graduated in 2008.

Dina was a semi-finalist in Krainev’s competition in Ukraine (1996), participated in the “Meerim” festival in Kyrgyzstan (1997), as well as “Ainalayn” and Zhubanov festivals in Kazakhstan (1996-1997). She won many prizes at the National Competition of Kazakhstan (1999) and the international competition “Musician of the 21st Century” (2002), also won third prize in the 29th International Piano Competition in Senigallia in Italy, the first prize in “Chamber Music – Duo Category” at the “Shabyt” International Competition in Kazakhstan.

Since September 2008, Dina has been studying for the new Master of Arts Degree in Performance under the tutelage of Christopher Elton.


Ordabek Duisen (Violin) Dina’s elder brother, Ordabek Duisen, has won several awards at numerous international competitions including 1st prize in the Franz Schubert competition in Italy, 2nd prize in the International Violin Competition in Astana, Kazakhstan, the diploma in the Michelangelo Abbado International Competition in Milan,( Italy), Grand Prize in the National Competition in Kazakhstan.

As early as at the age of 11 he won 1st prize at the international competition in Central Asia and former Soviet Union's republics and had his debut with an orchestra at age of 10. After graduation from the Kazakh National Academy of Music in Astana, Kazakhstan, Ordabek received a Meadows full scholarship and Meadows award to continue his study at the Southern Methodist University, Meadows School of the Arts in Dallas. His principle teachers were Svetlana Abdusadykova, Aiman Mussakhodzhayeva, Eduard Schmieder and Chee Yun.

As a soloist and chamber musician he has toured and performed in many countries including the Ukraine, Russia, Italy, France, Austria, Great Britain, South Korea and throughout the United States. Ordabek, a virtuoso violinist, in his native country is a remarkably first violinist to ever perform all 24 Caprices for Violin Solo by Niccolo Paganini in the course of one concert, with this program Ordabek played concerts in Kazakhstan.

Dina and Ordabek, the ‘Duisen Duo’, tour around the world and receive an ecstatic welcome whenever they go back to perform in their native Kazakhstan.
