Chappell of Bond Street is delighted to continue hosting the second full season of Lunchtime Conservatoire Concerts featuring some of the very best pianists from our London conservatoires. The next recital is on Wednesday February 11th at 1pm where we feature Martyna Jatkuaskaite from Lithuania, currently studying at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Martyna's programme features works by three virtuoso composer-pianists from different centuries.

Martyna Jatkuaskaite  was born in Kaunas, Lithuania on the 7th July 1984. At the age of 5 she started playing the piano, and was taught at the Kaunas J. Naujalis Music Gymnasium by Teacher Birute Kumpikiene. Since 2003 she studied at the Lithuanian Academy of Music under Professor Veronica Vitaite and in 2005 she won the Baltic State Scholarship to the Guildhall School of Music and Drama where she is studying under Professor Joan Havill. She received a First Class Bachelor Diploma in Music with Honours (2007) and is now studying for a Masters Degree of Music in Music Performance.

In her first year at the Guildhall School she has continued on her winning ways by winning the Robert Alexander Wise Award, Romantic Music Price, coming 1st in the Oxford Music Festival Professional Recital Prize and being the Overall Winner of the Tunbridge Wells International Young Concert Artists Competition 2006. In the 2007 Dudley International Piano Competition she was awarded Margaret Allen Memorial Prize and in the same year as recipient of the Martin/Philharmonia Award 2007/08she gave a recital at the Royal Festival Hall (London) in November 2007.

Martyna continued her success by wining the Jacques Samuel Intercollegiate Competition in 2007 which offered a debut recital at The Wigmore Hall, recital at The Fazioli Concert Hall in Italy and a concerto performance with the London Festival Orchestra at the Cadogan Hall. She has performed many times with the Kaunas Symphony Orchestra; Lithuanian Chamber and Lithuanian Symphony Orchestras. As a recitalist she has performed throughout Lithuania, Holland, U.K. and Italy.

This performance is free of charge and will take place in the Recital Room of Yamaha Artist Services Europe (London), situated within the historic Piano Hall at Chappell of Bond Street’s West End store.  The recital will commence at 1pm.
