London – October 1st 2008

Yamaha today announced the opening of a new Artist Services facility in London.

Other Yamaha Artist Service centres include New York, Tokyo, Beijing, Taipei, Shanghai and Seoul, and the centres function as vibrant international hubs providing musicians, teachers, promoters and students access to the best quality concert instruments matched by top-level technical service.

The new London centre boasts a highly qualified artist support team headed by Kumi Liley, a Tokyo born pianist and arts manager. Initially the facility will focus on pianos and will host a wide range of events and activities including lunchtime concerts in association with the major conservatoires for up-coming artists, and masterclasses by visiting international artists. The centre will be the home of some of Yamaha's best-kept secrets; the Yamaha Premium Pianos S4, S6 & CF that have been designed and produced to compliment the performances of the world’s best performers.

The Director of Yamaha Artist Services Europe, Stanislaw Zielinski, comments, “We are proud and thrilled to open our new London facility. Our mission is simple; music making at all levels is at the heart of the Yamaha philosophy. We are dedicated to developing this centre into a creative and productive partner of London’s classical musicians and actively supporting their musical careers. We will be seeking to contribute to the growth and development of both young and established musicians and would encourage all interested parties to contact us and visit us to see the facilities and experience Yamaha Pianos first hand.”

The centre will also work closely with Milton Keynes-based Yamaha Music UK; Yamaha’s British headquarters that handles instrument distribution and all Yamaha marketing, artist relations and educational policies. Yamaha’s senior director in the UK, Mike Ketley has said, “The key word here is support; technical, instrumental and most important of all, artist support. The new facility will be fundamental in developing this support and expanding our relationships with the classical music community here in London particularly and throughout the UK more generally. We are committed to building on the already excellent reputation of Yamaha pianos throughout the world’s major cities and developing further our relationships with established international and emerging pianists.”

Professor Voskressensky from the Tchaikovsky Conservatoire in Moscow is equally enthusiastic saying; “I have collaborated with Yamaha Piano Artist Services Europe for more than five years. They provide young pianists with excellent opportunities to develop their skill and receive professional advice from some of the world’s best musicians. I very much support the idea of Yamaha centres in European capitals. Bravo, Yamaha!”
